Then I hacked into the core parts of the site mostly turning stuff off to keep it simple. I made the header graphic the same size and name as the default one and uploaded it into the images folder. That's about it really. Taking the time to find a standard free template which you like and has the basic format right is well worth the time and trouble because it gets easier after that. Good luck.
